This project consisted of an architecturally designed home utilising Colorbond standing seam cladding and a recycled brick facade. We were engaged early in the project and were able to give some key insights to improve the overall livability of the home.

The home was built on a battle-axe block in Cardiff South overlooking the adjoining park. The site was rich in history and once served as the site for the Macquarie Life Church before being turned into residential property in 1975.

We provided insights and advice to redesign the structural components to remove a structural post in the kitchen and increase the structural steel beam thickness. This allowed the open plan living to flow better. We also proposed skylights to the upstairs living room and utilised a window above the blackbutt stairs to allow natural light into a typically dark area.
The design had a number of stunning features including high ceilings on the ground floor and raked ceilings to the first floor.

The house was designed around a northerly aspect utilising the native gardens around to create a seamless indoor/outdoor living space. The architect’s selection of finishes were simple, timeless and well stated. The client brief was for a high-end look that will not date and this was achieved through blackbutt finishes to cabinetry, doors and floors, alongside brushed nickel tapware to the bathrooms, kitchen and laundry.

Along the hallway there are 3 large windows that capture the beautiful morning sun. and a number of large windows on the ground floor for the afternoon sun to fill the ground floor and entertaining decks with natural light.
The site had its challenges due to the restricted access making it hard for machines, materials and people to access the site. We also needed to make sure that relationships with the neighbours were maintained and the impact to them was minimal.

Due to how tight the site was and being built between existing structures the set out was key to ensure all rooms of the house achieved incredible natural light.
The build was truly a collaborative masterpiece between the client, builder, architect and engineer. As challenges became apparent, regular site meetings allowed all parties to be aware and small changes to be made to ensure the project was delivered exactly how it was envisioned.

This project was incredibly successful through the early collaboration and changes. We are so proud of the level of finishes and quality of build this home is and we’re thankful to be able to be involved in it.

"The Boys were very professional and informative and it was an enjoyable experience overall. The build had its hurdles, but instead of problems, they came to me with solutions. They made my first build a breeze and I would love to work with them again."
